M3: MCs, MICS AND METAPHORS

Washington, DC - M3: MCs, Mics & Metaphors and M3: Remixed (M3) explores the power of hip hop lyricism and poetry through visual art. The exhibition captures the force behind hip-hop’s music movement, the phenomenon of the Master of Ceremonies, or MC. M3 assembles a nation-wide group of emerging artists, and from a range of disciplines, including design, fashion, video, animation,installation, sculpture, mixed media, photography and painting.

M3 is our “visual cipher” or circle, and the artists featured in this exhibition all know and understand
hip-hop, and each image and work speaks to another, similar to a circle of MC’s freestyling and
responding to one another in an actual cipher.
