The Artist

upfromsumdirt (Ron Davis)

upfromsumdirt is a writer, visual artist and graphic designer residing in kentucky with his wife, crystal wilkinson,
co-founders of Mythium Literary Journal - mythiumlitmag.com - a new journal for indigenous and diasporic writers.
brothadirt also operates the online poetry site, onceuponatimeintheprojects - theprojects.proboards.com/index.cgi - a
community of casual writers of every background.

as a creative type, he is inspired by old school blues, hiphop, funk and afrobeat - combining all those influences to
create a visual style he refers to as 'abstrack africana'. by personal philosophy, brothadirt is stuck in a time warp
between the 1965 and 1990, still spouting pan-africanisms not heard since the high-top fade was a must-have!
after the golden age of hiphop everybody went platinum - but brothadirt went bucolic and kept it cowry.
